  • Cheese Tasting and/or Pairings

    Elevate your understanding and appreciation of cheese with our Cheese Tasting & Pairing Events. These events explore the sensory experience of cheese, teaching you how to identify different flavor profiles and find the perfect pairings with a variety of beverages and accompaniments. Prices for these events range from $45 to $75, depending on the location and the types of ingredients and pairings offered.

  • K-12 Flavor Science & Cheese Tastings

    Our interactive K-12 Flavor Science & Cheese Tasting class introduces students to the basic concepts of taste and aroma, and how they relate to cheese. Students will learn how to identify different flavors and textures, exploring the science behind why certain cheeses taste the way they do. This class is $350 for a group of 15-30 students. *Food As Medicine grant funding available in Fall 2025 for low income (majority free school lunch eligible) classrooms.

  • Introduction to Cheesemaking

    Learn the art and science of turning milk into delicious cheese in our Introduction to Cheese Making class, held at the Barelas Community Kitchen. This class is perfect for beginners and home enthusiasts. We cover the foundational techniques and ingredients used to make fresh cheeses (styles rotate depending on the class). Class size is limited to 12 participants to ensure a hands-on experience. Prices range from $65 to $150, varying with the number of class sessions, ingredients used, and the complexity of the cheeses made.

  • Private Cheese Making Training Sessions

    Looking for a more personalized experience? Our Private Training Sessions are ideal for small groups of 4 to 6 people. These sessions are tailored to your group's specific interests, whether you want to focus on fresh cheeses or aged varieties. Class cost starts at $585, if the class is held at the Barelas Community Kitchen. If held at an off site kitchen, price can be adjusted depending on distance, number of people, and types of cheeses made.

  • Commercial & Micro Dairy Workshops

    For those serious about scaling up their operation and selling cheese, our Commercial & Micro Dairy Workshops offer intensive, 4-day long seminars. This programming is designed to provide aspiring commercial cheesemakers and micro-dairy operators with the in-depth knowledge and practical skills needed to eventually run a successful operation. The cost for these comprehensive 4-day long seminars start at $900. These workshops are offered infrequently and are scheduled based on demand.

  • Goat Harvesting for Cheese Makers

    This specialized workshop is designed for cheesemakers interested in the traditional, sustainable practice of preparing their own animal-based rennet. Learn the humane process of harvesting a kid goat (less than two weeks old) and preserving the abomasum—a stomach chamber that is a natural source of rennet. This skill provides a direct connection to the ancient art of cheesemaking, allowing for complete control over your ingredients. This class is only offered in the spring. It costs $65 and is for mature participants only.
